Preparedness, the theme on and off the field for Riverside. You have the longest road trip against last years conference champs. During practice, the Riverside coaching staff knew exactly what they were looking for tactically and would often pull a player aside for instruction. “This is how we win” echoed all throughout practice. Riverside want nothing less than a win this week against FC Arizona.

While they haven’t seen all of the results they have wanted, FC Arizona are starting to click, picking up their first win last week at Temecula FC. Those three points will be a big boost to a squad that have played more minutes than any other squad this year. FC Arizona have shown some vulnerabilities in defense allowing a goal in every match. Their defenders are big and stay compact, but have shown a weakness to speed. The Coras will look to break their own scoring drought, and show some of the offensive chemistry that has been building over the first few weeks.

“We are very fast on the outside so we want to make sure we take opportunities to exploit that, so we will be lining up in a manner that does that. We want to show off our speed and our touch at the same time. We need to limit the turnovers that create opportunities for the other team.” – Head Coach Gabriel Esqueda

This week’s match-up looks to be a test for both teams. FC Arizona will be looking to show everyone that they are back in form, and ready to be on top of the table. While Riverside will need to be ready to out play Arizona for 90’minutes, and finish off their chances. We have seen the spine of Riverside start to develop over the last three games. The pressure is on Riverside to find the missing pieces, before it’s too late.
